The client provides a range of nature-related products and services to profit and non-profit organizations. Their primary focus is promoting nature content through web and mobile phones.

Challenge

As part of his services the client decided to develop bingo type game for mobile phone aimed for his own users and for further licensing. Android platform was chosen for its increasing popularity and availably for a variety of audiences.

As every other bingo game it had to be multiplayer and real-time. Moreover the client requested to develop a chat room which would be accessible during the game process and while the users are waiting for the start of the new game. Possibility of playing in offline mode had to be introduced as well.

Solution

The client was not an expert in game development and the game design was created independently by our company resources. Every casual game has to be attractive and OnCleverSoft designers did a great job in developing interactive interface with stunning visual and sound effects.

We studied majority of well-known approaches for the development of bingo games and chose the optimal scenario that could also be suitable with limited internet connection. The game caches all the data on the mobile phone and the game itself could work offline using the timer to ping server and notify that the gamer is still in the game. The server keeps track of player results and provides opportunity of winning the bonuses (discounts in company online-store, etc.). Additional functionality was later introduced where multiple users could play together offline by means of Bluetooth connection.

The solution was mainly oriented for Android 2.1+ devices and was further optimized to run in the background with minimal consumption of handset resources. Furthermore the game was accompanied with the development of the detailed instruction and tutorial of how to play.

Result

After three months of the development and an additional month of testing and stabilization OnCleverSoft team released the system that accounted all the users and statistics and also uses simple and easy tool for management of ads in the game.
