Media Asset Management System

Customer
Customer is one of the first companies in Europe which focuses on creating digital images. Since 2006 Customer has worked on a generic media asset management system that is used by a number of customers such as Toyota-Lexus (Belgium).

Challenge
Customer embarked on developing a solution for the Toyota-Lexus department responsible for information management. This solution was aimed at creation of the information system that enables content management which would be available from any spot worldwide. This system would allow making standard operations with the content such as creation, uploading/downloading and deletion of personal files located on FTP server but using HTTP protocol by means of user friendly interface based on Flex.

Solution
Due to OnCleverSoft’s extensive experience in Flex our team was chosen to develop the Web File Sharing module for the Customer DAM platform. We developped the business logic, web service and web client application; and performed extensive testing to ensure the smooth system usage.

The Web File Sharing module for the Customer DAM platform had to act as a transparent layer on top of an existing FTP Server. It enables the user to seamingly log on to the FTP server without having to enter his user credentials. Also it allows the user to upload and download over the HTTP contection without having to use an FTP server. This solution is specifically designed for transferring small to medium sized assets (up to 50mb).

The module had to be integrated in the existing framework application and work with the username and password that were already foreseen in the main application. It had to be integrated in the home page or in the administration panel depending on the needs of the customer or it could work stand-alone, if desired with its own login page and user authentication.

Results
The result of the joint work of the customer and OnCleverSoft Company was the successful delivery, implementation and usage of the developed application.

The work was carried out by the team of 2 developers and 2 testers during 4 months by means of Adobe Flex 3.0, Microsoft .Net platform (C#, WebServices), XML; Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.
